Disaster loans offered to some southern Idaho, eastern Oregon small businesses for drought relief

BOISE, Idaho — Small business and private nonprofit owners in parts of Idaho and Oregon can now apply for federal disaster loans to help with drought-related costs.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) said the low interest loans are available to businesses and nonprofits in Canyon, Owyhee, Payette and Washington counties in Idaho. The loans are also available to Baker, Grant, Harney and Malheur counties in eastern Oregon and Humboldt County in Nevada.

The Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program is available specifically to small businesses, agricultural cooperatives, nurseries and private nonprofits who have financial losses directly related to the drought. But the organization said it cannot provide loans to agricultural producers, farmers or ranchers unless they are “small aguaculture enterprises.”…
