MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The City of Millington says it has received overdue rent payments for its Shelby County Clerk’s Office location, which resolves a months-long dispute between the city and Wanda Halbert.
City Manager Frankie Dakin released a statement on social media confirming the payment, crediting collaboration between county leaders and the Shelby County Commission.
“We are grateful to Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris’s administration, especially Chief Harold Collins, Deputy Chief LaSonya Hall, the Division of Public Works, and the Shelby County Commission, particularly Commissioner Mick Wright,” Dakin’s statement said. “Commissioner Wright has been a consistent advocate for working collaboratively with the City to resolve this matter and holding the Clerk accountable.”…
