‘Lowest I’ve seen the river,’ Savannah Riverkeeper official says amid drought, fires

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV)– As drought conditions continue to persist across the region, officials with the Savannah Riverkeeper said rivers are beginning to show the effects.

According to the Georgia Forestry Commission, 98% of the state is between moderate and exceptional drought conditions.

“I’ve been through multiple droughts, and this is the lowest I’ve ever seen the river,” Savannah Riverkeeper Executive Director Tanya Bonitatibus said…
