A developing situation in Wesley Chapel ended with a reported arrest at a townhome community next to three schools that had spent part of the afternoon on controlled campus status, according to residents in the area.
A heavy law enforcement presence was reported at the Windermere Estates townhome community shortly after dismissal Friday at Wiregrass Elementary, John Long Middle School, and Wiregrass Ranch High School. The neighborhood sits directly adjacent to the three campuses, all of which had been placed on controlled campus status earlier in the day while the Pasco Sheriff’s Office investigated a report of a suspect with a weapon in the surrounding community.
Multiple neighbors reported seeing a man taken into custody and led away by deputies. As of publication, the Pasco Sheriff’s Office had not released an official statement about the arrest, the identity of the man, or any charges that may be filed.
