Arkansas lawmakers propose $300M West Memphis investment for ‘super project’

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (WMC) – Arkansas legislators are debating how best to invest $300M in economic incentives to develop a non-data center “super project” in West Memphis.

According to section 8 and 9 of Arkansas’ Revenue Stabilization Law, there are two provisions this year that would allocate a sum no greater than $150M each for economic development and infrastructure improvement.

“We have spent years preparing for opportunities like this through infrastructure improvements, expanding utility capacity, marketing our sites, and strengthening partnerships at the local, regional, and state levels,” Nick Coulter from West Memphis Economic Development said. “When companies look for locations that offer shovel ready sites, transportation access of I40 and I55, access to river and rail, a skilled workforce, and affordable, reliable utilities, West Memphis is in that conversation.”…
