Woman who knew Shreveport shooting suspect for 25 years shares insights

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – A woman who knew Shamar Elkins, the Shreveport mass shooting suspect, for 25 years shared her perspective on who he was.

Eight young children were killed Sunday morning at a home on West 79th Street in Shreveport. Two women were shot. One child and another woman were able to escape.

Michele Silva, the sister of Michael Mayence, knew Elkins since he was six years old. She said she never saw any signs that could have led to Sunday’s events.

“I would never in a million years believe he would do anything like this to himself or anyone else,” Silva said…
