DC teen’s sentence for robbery, carjacking spree fully suspended

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A 17-year-old who pleaded guilty to a spree of robberies and carjackings in the District in 2024 saw his 48-month sentence fully suspended on Friday, officials said.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) for the District of Columbia said that Antonio Gaither of D.C. was 16 years old when he committed a spree of robberies and carjackings in September of 2024.

The first incident happened on Sept. 19, 2024. Officials said that just after 10:30 p.m., Gaither and three other suspects pulled up next to the victim while she was parking her car in the 500 block of 48th Place NE. Two suspects got out, and one pointed a firearm at her, ordering her to get out of her car. After she complied, two suspects got into her car before all four escaped the scene.

The next incident happened around 12:34 a.m. on Sept. 20, 2024. The USAO said that Gaither and other suspects approached the victim, who was sitting in his car with his doors unlocked, in the 800 block of P St. NW.
