Springfield’s public works leader steps down after 47 years

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Brian Conlon is retiring after 47 years with the City of Springfield, where he rose from a field worker to the Development and Public Works Department’s Operations Division Director.

Conlon started with the city in May 1979 as an operations and maintenance field worker. He moved up to team supervisor in 1988, became Maintenance Manager in 2007 and took on the Division Director role in 2019.

“Brian has been a true asset to the City and community, fostering positive relationships,” City Manager Nancy Newton said. “He has been an invaluable leader and mentor to numerous staff members in the Operations Division and across the City.”…
