Street co-naming honors beloved pediatrician who cared for generations of Staten Islanders

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — For decades, Dr. Melvin Koplow showed up for Staten Island’s youngest patients. So when it was time to honor the late doctor, despite a steady rainfall, they showed up for him.

Dr. Koplow, who died in 2024 at the age of 79, was honored Saturday with a street co-naming at the corner of Huguenot and Sinclair avenues, a short distance from where he practiced for decades.
