Arkansas Storm Team Blog: Remembering April 25, 2011

April 25, 2011 is one of the many dates Arkansans will always remember. It was the start of the historic Super Outbreak, and Arkansas was one of the first to be impacted.

While the worst of the outbreak came two days later, the 25th brought a fast-moving dangerous setup that produced both tornadoes and deadly flooding.

Eighteen tornadoes were confirmed across the state, and 14 people lost their lives, including deaths from both the tornadoes and flash flooding.

The Vilonia tornado in Faulkner County was one of the many notable tornadoes to touch down that day. Many homes and businesses were destroyed by a long tracked EF-2 tornado. This tornado also resulted in multiple fatalities.

Other areas like Garland and Saline County was impacted as well. A strong EF-3 tornado touched down. You could see the tornado scar on satellite imagery for many years later…
