Spring ISD has hired a new financial chief. Here’s a look at the challenges ahead.

Spring ISD has named a new chief of business services to oversee school finances — just as the district projects a $8.7 million budget deficit next school year.

The 32,300-student district hired Heather Wilson, chief financial officer at College Station ISD, on Friday.

District officials at a March 24 special meeting said they were eliminating two administrative roles — chief operating officer and executive assistant for the former role — to help save costs.
