TEWKSBURY — A long-running dispute over the leadership of Market Basket, the regionally beloved grocery chain with deep roots in the Merrimack Valley, reached a significant turning point this week as a Delaware court upheld actions taken by the company’s Board of Directors against former CEO Arthur T. Demoulas.
In a detailed 125-page opinion, Vice Chancellor J. Travis Laster of the Delaware Chancery Court ruled that the Market Basket Board acted independently and in good faith when it first suspended Demoulas in May 2025 and later terminated his employment in September 2025.
