WOODFORD COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) – Economic pressures and a housing crisis are keeping more animals in shelters and forcing some pet owners to surrender animals they adopted years ago, according to a central Kentucky humane society.
The Woodford Humane Society held a 50 percent off adoption event this weekend to connect more animals with homes.
“We’re happy to say we did manage to get some animals out the door and into loving homes, and we’re very hopeful that those are permanent placements and we’re not gonna see them again as much as we will miss them,” said Beth Oleson with the Woodford Humane Society.
