More than 100 unclaimed Iowans laid to rest in Des Moines

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) – Nearly 200 Iowans were laid to rest at Avon Cemetery in Des Moines today after years of having no place to go.

As KCCI reports, the Final Salute, a nonprofit that provides funeral services for unclaimed remains, recruited dozens of strangers to serve as the friends and family of those being put to rest.
