Ruby Duncan, longtime Las Vegas advocate, dies at 93

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Longtime Las Vegas advocate Ruby Duncan has died. She was 93.

In a statement, North Las Vegas Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown called Duncan “a giant of advocacy and justice,” saying she worked tirelessly to improve the lives of working Nevadans. The mayor said Duncan’s impact is still felt across Southern Nevada through expanded help for women and children, along with added community resources in the Historic Westside.

Goynes-Brown also said Duncan’s legacy will live on for future generations through Ruby Duncan Elementary School in North Las Vegas. “Thank you, Ruby,” she wrote, adding condolences to Duncan’s family and gratitude for her example of standing up for others…
