Writing about food has had me eating out more often than I ever have in my life. I love the chance to try new places and return to old favorites, and along the way I discover many memorable dishes.

Blackened shrimp and fried okra at Blind Tiger
Blind Tiger in downtown Shreveport has a few blackened items on the menu: catfish fillets, Gulf shrimp, chicken breast and tilapia. The perfectly seasoned blackened shrimp and fried okra, which I selected for my side, made me want to return to the restaurant soon.
Blueberry danish at Figs Bakery and Cafe
Figs is the newest bakery in Shreveport, and they have definitely hit it out of the park. I didn’t even care for danishes until I tried theirs. The warm blueberry danish is slightly crispy and soft inside…..
