Open NLV council seat attracts 3 first-time candidates

An open seat on the North Las Vegas City Council has attracted three first-time candidates who will face off in the June 9 primary for the chance to represent their home district – Ward 1.

The candidates — Diana Ramirez, Sherry Strothers, and Esmeralda Villeda — are vying to replace term-limited North Las Vegas City Councilman Isaac Barron, who has held the seat since 2013 and served as mayor pro tem beginning in 2016.
