Ex-Columbus officer involved in bar fight claims she was fired for being white

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A former Columbus police officer who was fired after a bar fight filed a federal lawsuit Monday claiming that her firing was because she is white and was done without an investigation.

Amber Blackburn filed the federal lawsuit against the City of Columbus, police chief Elaine Bryant, assistant chief Nick Konves, director of public safety Kate McSweeney-Pishotti, and two officers, Ian Mansperger and Christopher Darlington.

Blackburn was at the bar TownHall after dinner on Jan. 25, 2025, with friends to celebrate birthdays, according to the lawsuit. Darlington and Mansperger, whom Blackburn did not recognize, were reportedly working special duty at the bar.

One of the officers allegedly made a comment about Blackburn’s ex-husband, Nicholas Duty, who was previously fired from the Columbus Police Department and sentenced to three years in prison for falsifying records in an investigation into his alleged inappropriate contact with women…
