Colfax woman pleads guilty to stealing from federally funded Iowa nonprofit

DES Moines, Iowa — A Colfax woman has pleaded guilty to stealing from an Iowa nonprofit organization that received federal funds, according to federal authorities.

Jodi Dyan Spargur-Tate, 55, entered the guilty plea April 23. Prosecutors said she worked for Children and Families of Iowa from 2015 to 2022 as a program director.

According to court documents, Spargur-Tate submitted false reimbursement requests during that time, including falsified invoices and receipts. Authorities said she used the funds for personal expenses and for the benefit of a family member, rather than for the nonprofit or its program participants…
