Texas Tech QB checks into rehab for gambling addiction

Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby is leaving the team to seek treatment for a gambling addiction.

In a statement released Monday, Texas Tech announced that Sorsby will take an “immediate indefinite leave of absence” from the team in order to enter a residential treatment program for gambling addiction. The school said it was committed to supporting Sorsby for long-term recovery.

Sorsby only just arrived at Texas Tech as a transfer from Cincinnati. He threw for 2,800 yards and 27 touchdowns with the Bearcats last season, and was expected to be the Red Raiders’ starting quarterback in 2026…
