Court rejects last-minute request to delay Richins sentencing in murder conviction

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A Utah judge has denied a last-minute request from Kouri Richins to delay her sentencing, keeping it on track for May 13.

The defense argued it needed more time to prepare mitigation and cited a scheduling conflict with one of her attorneys, but the court was not convinced.

The judge ruled the defense had already been given about two months to prepare and failed to show specific reasons why more time was necessary.
