Trial for Spokane County mother accused of murdering ex-boyfriend delayed a week

SPOKANE, Wash. — The defense team for a woman accused of breaking into the home of the father of her toddler and then killing him, has another week to prepare for her murder trial.

Detectives believe Cynthia Khaleel went to the Mead home of her ex-boyfriend, Justin Daniel in the middle of the night back in April of 2024 and stabbed him repeatedly. He was also shot multiple times. Records show a custody battle for the former couple had recently concluded, with Daniel being awarded primary custody of the child.

Daniel’s daughter from a previous relationship was also inside the home when the attack began, but was able to escape physically unharmed. The child Khaleel and Daniel shared was in the care of someone else at the time of the murder…
