Portland woman pleads guilty to striking ICE officer in face after pulling off his mask

A 41-year-old woman pleaded guilty Monday to assaulting a federal officer after she helped free a man detained by immigration enforcement officers in Portland last fall.

The government will seek a probationary sentence with home detention when Temika Gardner of Portland is sentenced in July, Assistant U.S. Attorney Katherine A. Rykken told a judge.

Gardner filmed federal agents on her cellphone as they detained a man about 5:30 a.m. Oct. 23. The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents had stopped the man’s 2012 Volkswagen shortly after he emerged from an apartment complex in the 14300 block of East Burnside Street…
