BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A local activist group has used an AI-altered image from a 17 News report to make its own allegations against Supervisor Jeff Flores.
The image was posted to Facebook over the weekend. It appears to show a screenshot of a KGET story about Supervisor Jeff Flores. The text on that image says Flores was caught taking illegal contributions and making prohibited votes as part of a grand racketeering scheme. The image was created with Google’s AI tool, Gemini.

The original 17 News report, from which the image was taken, was from 2020 where Flores announced his candidacy for the Board of Supervisors District 3 seat.
The group named Central Valley Citizens for Responsible Government posted the AI-altered image. In a statement to 17 News, the group said the AI-generated image included a watermark in the bottom corner adding “there’s no reason to believe it was real in the first place.”…
