Two Charlotte Restaurants Close Doors as Chain Refocuses and Bakery Faces Money Troubles

Habit Burger & Grill shuttered its Mooresville spot. Wheatberry Bakeshop will close its South End storefront on Saturday, May 9. The California-based burger chain is shifting attention to different markets, while the bakery blamed financial strain.

A sign in the Mooresville restaurant’s window confirmed the news. “While we’ve closed this Habit Burger & Grill location, you can still enjoy your chargrilled favorites at one of our nearby restaurants,” the sign read.

That Mooresville site opened in 2023. It was the chain’s sixth Charlotte-area restaurant. People can still grab burgers at Denver, Monroe, and Indian Land spots across North Carolina…
