Fireflies start extended road trip

After celebrating mascot Mason’s 10th birthday this past weekend, the Columbia Fireflies will spend the next two weeks on the road.

The trip starts Tuesday in the Grand Strand with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Jordan Woods will get the opening start of the six-game series. This is just the second series meeting between the two Carolina League South rivals, the first won by the Fireflies 4-2 at home. After that, the Fireflies will play the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers.

Columbia (11-10) is coming off a split doubleheader with the Augusta GreenJackets at Segra Park. They won Game 1 by 6-2, during which the pitching staff combined for the second one-hitter of the season…
