CORALVILLE, Iowa (KCRG) – A Coralville woman pleaded guilty to bankruptcy fraud after hiding more than $70,000 in assets belonging to a cognitively impaired nursing home resident to avoid paying the resident’s nursing home debt.
64-year-old Donita Eckrich pleaded guilty to one count of bankruptcy fraud on April 22.
Court documents show the resident suffered from severe cognitive impairments and was unable to manage their own financial affairs in 2021 and 2022.
