Exclusive: Target to open $265M first-of-its-kind receive center in Houston, creating nearly 200 jobs

Target is opening a first-of-its-kind receive center in Houston this week as it aims to expand in the region and build a more flexible nationwide supply chain.

Executives from the Minneapolis-based retailer will join workers at the facility April 29 for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and to send off its first fully loaded truck, bound for one of Target’s regional distribution centers.

The company already has 25 regional distribution centers across the country, said Sousan Ortega, senior vice president for field operations at Target, in an interview last week.
