The first 911 Communications Director for Hall County is being remembered by family and friends this week as a pioneer and mentor for generations of emergency service members in several northeast Georgia communities.
Officials announced on Monday the passing of Elaine Sexton of Commerce, at the age of 76.
Elaine Sexton started with Gainesville Police Department for her first 6 years, then transferred over to Hall County Fire Dispatch. While working for dispatch, she served as the Director of Central Communications. Sexton was the first 911 Communications Director for Hall County and served as the Emergency Management Director. Elaine served as EMA Director during the deadly 1998 tornado outbreak that impacted North Hall and White Counties.
