Bond denied for woman charged with murdering Jamari Moore

SCOTTSBORO, Ala. (WHNT) – One of two women accused of killing 25-year-old Jamari Moore faced a Jackson County judge today for her Aniah’s Law hearing.

Judge John Graham denied Tapanga Steadman bond nearly three years after Moore’s body was found wrapped in plastic in Sauty Creek.

“There’s no amount of justice that can camouflage what has been done to him, it was horrific,” said Rhonda Betton, Moore’s grandmother.

Tapanga and Johneil Steadman are facing murder charges in Moore’s death. His family attended today’s hearing where the state presented new evidence about the night he died, including screenshots of texts exchanged between Tapanga and Johneil, where they talk about an alibi, leaving behind DNA evidence, and disposing of his body.
