SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — 18 years ago, a powerful tornado leveled neighborhoods and injured hundreds of people.
The Burnett’s Mill neighborhood was one of the most heavily damaged neighborhoods on April 28, 2008. It was a disaster zone at that time because you couldn’t get into parts of the neighborhood.
Ellen Benegar was not at home at the time, but lost her home, and so did her neighbors. While talking to 10 On Your Side, she pointed to the four homes in a row that were pretty much destroyed…
