Residents of the Siena Lakes senior living community in North Naples put on a show to support young people in Southwest Florida. At a March 12 Luncheon and Fashion Show, residents strolled the catwalk as models, including one in her wheelchair and another who just celebrated her 91st birthday. Over 150 residents either attended the event or served as volunteers, including male residents who were wine servers. Fashions were provided by Casual Connection.
The beneficiary of $19,415 in donations was Laces of Love, which has provided 350,000 pairs of new shoes to low-income and disadvantaged children—from kindergartners to high school seniors—in Lee and Collier counties since 2005. Siena Lakes underwrote the cost of the luncheon so that all ticket proceeds could go to charity. Siena Lakes residents also donated 66 pairs of sneakers and athletic shoes.
