Semi truck rollover forces overnight closure of SLO County highway

Emergency crews responded to a big rig rollover that blocked the highway along the San Luis Obispo/Santa Barbara county line late Tuesday evening.

At 10:42 p.m., a semi truck crashed and fell onto its side, closing both lanes of Highway 166 near Miranda Canyon Road, according to a post on X from Cal Fire.

Work crews were able to secure the scene and mitigate all hazards related to the incident, according to the post.

While there was an initial concern about a potential fuel leak that would have required a larger hazmat response, it was later determined to be a motor oil spill, which was contained to the roadway and cleaned up by the morning, Cal Fire public information officer Eva Grady said…
