Man connected to 2021 shooting in Amarillo sentenced

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — A man connected to a 2021 deadly shooting in Amarillo was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Court records show that James Coy Mireles pleaded guilty to “Murder” in the death of Timothy Wayne McCullough.

As was previously reported on Myhighplains.com, on July 17, 2021, the Amarillo Police Department responded to a shooting on the 600 block of south Mississippi Street. McCullough, 24, was found with a gunshot to his head and was taken to a local hospital where he died.

Mireles was later arrested following a SWAT situation in Hereford. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison in March.
