Former Bella Vista police officer facing decertification by Arkansas panel

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A former corporal with the Bella Vista Police Department is being considered for decertification after a woman accused him of sexually assaulting her.

BVPD fired Matthew Hixson on Jan. 16, a day after placing him on paid administrative leave amid an ongoing investigation, according to documents obtained by KNWA/FOX24 through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

The documents said that Hixson was terminated for violating several department policies, including sexual misconduct, making false statements and sexual harassment. The department also recommended that the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training (CLEST) decertify Hixson.
