Portland police officers fielded calls about a man in crisis in Southwest Portland on Wednesday afternoon and closed Oregon 99W and a ramp to Interstate 5 during their response.
Sgt. Kevin Allen said officers responded to calls about a man injuring himself with a knife near Southwest Luradel Street just before 1 p.m. and set up a safety perimeter while they worked to deescalate the situation. Officers made contact with the man on the I-5 onramp near Southwest 64th Avenue and Barbur Boulevard, also known as Oregon 99W, Allen said.
