INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Barney Wood visits Spencer Farm in Noblesville, Indiana, a family-run destination known for its U-pick crops and agritourism offerings, including strawberries, fresh produce, a market with local goods, and a winery.
The farm was established in 1982 by owner Kyle Spencer, who began with 10 acres of strawberries under the name Spencer’s U-Pick. Spencer said a neighbor helped him get started by suggesting strawberries as an entry into farming.
The initial crop was planted in April 1982 and first harvested in June 1983. In 1986, the farm relocated to Cherry Tree Road and expanded to include red and black raspberries, blueberries, and chrysanthemums. Additional offerings over time have included pumpkins, asparagus, Christmas trees, and grapes.
Strawberry season has remained central to the farm’s operations for more than four decades. Spencer said the U-pick experience continues to draw visitors and has become a tradition for many families across generations…
