LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — With 103 clients, the Shade Tree in Las Vegas is now at full capacity following recent renovations at the long-standing shelter for homeless and abused women. They’ve continued to offer a place to stay for people who need more than just a bed — including those who can’t leave their pets behind.
CEO Linda Perez said the accommodations have been a blessing, especially as the need for shelter is greater than many people realize. “Just like our children, our pets are like our children for many victims who go through and I’m a survivor as well. Our pets are therapy, they’re our emotional support, so that’s not an option for many of us to leave a pet behind.”
For Amber Ortega, having a safe place for her dog was not optional. “I’ve had him since he was a itty bitty baby dog.”…
