‘Neglect and cruelty’: Washington claims health inspectors were blocked from ICE facility

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Washington Governor Bob Ferguson and Attorney General Nick Brown are vying for a court order to allow health inspections at a Tacoma immigration facility where they allege detainees are treated with “neglect and cruelty.”

On Tuesday, Gov. Ferguson and Attorney General Brown held a press conference, announcing legal action against the GEO Group, a private company that operates the Northwest Immigration and Customs Enforcement Processing Center.
