WAHIAWA, Oahu (KHON2) — For nearly sixty years, the High Core/Storefront program has provided help to students who need it the most.
“Either they’re behind in credits, or they’re making humbug, they’re getting in trouble,” it’s basically those kids that going to fit in at regular school but are school age, and are eligible still to get their credit,” said Colette Miyamoto-Kajiwara, longtime teacher at High Core.
“Over the last several years, we funded this particular program, but what we wanted to do is fund it statewide,” said Sen. Donovan Dela Cruz, Senate Ways and Means chair. “Now we fund a kind of alternative learning program or a center, one per complex statewide, because we see the need, and we’ve seen some amazing results.”…
