CITY HALL PARK, Manhattan (PIX11) — A huge crowd of protesters gathered outside the gates of City Hall, chanting “Let us in!”
New York City council members stood with and rallied for Teamsters Local 821 to restore benefits to the city’s sanitation and waste management workers’ retirement packages.

The group of at least 100 people spilled out into the streets Thursday afternoon near the entrance on Murray and Broadway. A few dozen were let inside the City Hall gates.
The group pushed into the entrance, lined with nearly a dozen City Hall security officers. Holding signs pushing for 20-year pensions, the group yelled “boooo” at officers keeping them outside the gates.
“To my understanding, they’re simply trying to get what FDNY and NYPD received. For some reason, correction officers and sanitation workers didn’t get the same thing,” Public Advocate Jumaane Williams told PIX11 News at the protest…
