EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — Multiple Vanderburgh County residents were arrested and booked into the Vanderburgh County Confinement Center following a child neglect and battery investigation involving multiple children, including an infant.
Deputies responded to a home on E Boonville New Harmony Rd. on April 29, 2026, after receiving reports of a violent incident. 35-year-old Caleb Butler faces multiple charges, including child neglect and battery against a person under the age of 14. 33-year-old Andrea Butler was charged with the neglect of a dependent. A third person, 32-year-old Kimberly Mitchell was also arrested for child neglect. No mug photo of Mitchell is available.
According to deputies in the affidavit, authorities were alerted after a complaint alleged that Caleb struck an infant in front of another child. A witness reported observing Caleb grabbing and squeezing the infant’s hand before striking them. The witness also reported that Caleb had threatened to burn their belongings and hunt them down. A juvenile witness reported seeing the infant hit on the leg after the infant grabbed Caleb’s beard, and noted hearing the infant crying after being hit on a separate occasion…
