HFD puts out early morning recycling car fire in Kapolei

KAPOLEI, Hawaii (Island News) – The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) extinguished a building fire that was reported on Hanua St. in Kapolei early Thursday morning.

HFD officials responded to the scene at approximately 1:28 a.m. to find smoke and flames emanating from a pile of recycling cars in an open area.

Firefighters initiated a defensive fire attack to protect exposures and stop it from spreading. The fire was deemed under control at 2:24 a.m. and fully extinguished at 3:35 a.m…
