Kid Rock Partners with Pete Hegseth to Honor Military for America’s 250th Birthday

Country rap star Kid Rock joined forces with Pete Hegseth, Secretary of War, to launch a special initiative celebrating the United States’ 250th anniversary. On May 1, the 55-year-old musician shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) announcing his plan to give back to military personnel and veterans in a meaningful way.

Filmed at a military base helicopter hangar, the video features Kid Rock-born Robert James Ritchie-and Hegseth speaking directly to viewers. They also greet service members and showcase a spirited ride on Apache helicopters. In the video, Kid Rock emphasized the significance of the nation’s milestone, saying, “This year, America turns 250 years old; 250 years of freedom; 250 years of grit; 250 years of brave men and women standing up and defending what makes this country the greatest on Earth.”

Hegseth echoed this sentiment, highlighting the sacrifices of those in uniform and their families. Kid Rock then announced that at each stop of his Freedom 250 Tour and the Rock The Country music festival, 250 veterans and active-duty service members will receive free lawn tickets, with the option to bring up to three guests. “Because when one serves, the whole family serves,” he remarked, a statement Hegseth strongly affirmed.

The singer concluded with a heartfelt tribute: “America 250 isn’t just a celebration of our history, it’s a celebration of the heroes that keep it going. To every veteran, to every active duty service member, and to every family that stood strong behind them, this one’s for you.

God bless our troops. God bless our military families.

And God bless the United States of America.”

Kid Rock invited veterans to request tickets through VetTix.org, expressing gratitude for their service.

The announcement received mixed reactions on X. Some criticized the gesture, questioning whether the music style would appeal to all service members or doubting the impact of free tickets.

Others defended the effort, praising it as a patriotic and touching tribute. One veteran’s spouse shared appreciation for the support shown through the ticket giveaway.

This initiative follows Kid Rock’s earlier social media push to promote the Freedom 250 Tour, which celebrates America’s 250th birthday and runs from May 1 in Dallas through June 20 in Pennsylvania. The artist also recently reduced ticket prices for his Rock The Country festival, which started May 1 in Texas and continues through September.

Kid Rock’s promotion video highlighted his Nashville office and featured a nod to his son, who helps with social media strategy. The artist hinted at facing social media “suppression,” likely tied to his outspoken political views in support of former President Donald Trump and conservative causes.

As the tour progresses, Kid Rock has playfully teased arriving at shows in an Apache helicopter, a move he said might unsettle “far-left liberals.”

With his Freedom 250 Tour and Rock The Country festival underway, Kid Rock continues to blend music, patriotism, and military support in his unique style as America marks a historic milestone.
