Ex-Wife of Storage Wars Star Darrell Sheets Shares Heartfelt Tribute After His Death

Kimber Wuerfel, former partner of reality TV star Darrell Sheets, has shared a touching tribute following his recent passing. Wuerfel, a Southern California real estate agent who was with Sheets from around 2011 to 2016, posted on Instagram last Thursday, nearly two weeks after Sheets was found dead at his Arizona home on April 22 at age 67.

“I haven’t had the words until now,” Wuerfel wrote. “Thank you for all the love, prayers, and condolences; it has meant more than I can say.” Sheets’ death is being investigated as an apparent suicide.

Her tribute included a warm photo of the two smiling outdoors, with Sheets’ arm around her shoulders. She reflected on the joy he brought to those around him, saying, “Darrell gave us so many moments of laughter, connection, and life.

May the memories you hold of him stay close to your heart, as mine will stay with me forever.” She also noted that details about a memorial service would be shared soon.

Sheets became widely known as “The Gambler” on A&E’s popular series Storage Wars, where buyers bid on abandoned storage units. He appeared in 163 episodes starting with the show’s 2010 debut and retired after 15 seasons in 2023. Beyond TV, he operated an antique shop called Havasu Show Me Your Junk in Lake Havasu City.

A&E issued a statement expressing sorrow over the loss, saying, “We are saddened by the passing of a beloved member of our Storage Wars family, Darrell ‘The Gambler’ Sheets. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Lake Havasu City police responded to a call at Sheets’ residence early on April 22. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities confirmed the death appears to be a suicide but the investigation remains open. They are seeking any information from the public and can be contacted at 928-855-1171.

The police are also looking into allegations of cyberbullying mentioned by fellow Storage Wars cast member René Nezhoda. Nezhoda, who stayed in touch with Sheets despite their on-screen rivalry, shared on Instagram that Sheets had been “really, really tormenting” before his death. “You never know what demons somebody faces and what you go through and what you might push them through,” Nezhoda commented.
