Potter County Judge Nancy Tanner talks Panhandle State Hospital

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Potter County Judge Nancy Tanner provided an update on the Panhandle State Hospital.

Tanner shared she frequently goes out to check on construction, adding that crews were able to fill the hole and get dirt packed down from where the previous building stood and now concrete has been poured and frames are going up.

“They’re doing the framing now,” said Tanner. “And then they’ll start with everything else and they’ll go up pretty fast. And then they have to do parking lot and all the things that go with it, the trees, the shrubs, whatever to make it pretty.”

According to Tanner, construction for the hospital is still on track to be completed in 2027 and will have 75 beds available. Tanner shared that with the hospital set to serve the region it will likely stay packed, but it will still make a difference…
