A northwest Atlanta roadway turned into a trauma scene Friday night after a child was struck by a vehicle and rushed to the hospital in critical condition, authorities said.
Atlanta police said the collision happened just after 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of James Jackson Parkway NW and Browntown Road NW. Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported the child to a trauma center. Officials have not released the child’s age or identity, and the case remains under investigation.
The driver stayed at the scene and spoke with officers, according to police. Investigators have not said whether speed or impairment are being considered and have not indicated if any charges will be filed as they continue to gather evidence, FOX 5 Atlanta reported.
Crash-prone stretch
