Volunteers litter highway ramps to pick up trash

Andrew Larsen looked toward the ground Saturday, scanning concrete and grass for litter.

He walked on the highway ramp above I-280 and Front Street, using a litter stick to pick up empty soda cans and other trash like he normally does in the Old West End, where he lives.

“I have organized litter cleanups in my neighborhood for several years,” Mr. Larsen said. “This is just one of those annual events that I always try to get out and do because I know how awful the highway ramps can get. I just really like having a clean-looking community.”…
