DETROIT — A Michigan man says he unknowingly boarded one of the final flights for Spirit Airlines—marking the end of an era for budget travelers across the country.
Brendan Sichak landed at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport just after midnight on Saturday, returning home from a family trip to Fort Lauderdale. Hours later, Spirit ceased operations entirely after years of financial struggles, rising costs, and failed attempts to stay afloat.
