ANDERSON, S.C. (WSPA) – Prisma Health held their 20th annual Dragon Boat Upstate Festival Saturday, raising over $500,000 dollars to help the ongoing fight against cancer.
The festival celebrated its 20th anniversary on Lake Hartwell, with 24 teams going oar to oar to to raise funds for local cancer patients and research. Approximately 800 people attended the event.
This year’s festival raised $500,000, the second highest amount in the event’s lifespan. The Upstate festival has raised 5.6 million in cancer research.
The Dragon Boat festival supports Prisma Health Cancer Institute’s Center for Integrative Oncology and Survivorship program. The program helps patients reconnect with therapies, regain confidence and reintegrate into the community following cancer treatment. It also funds Prevent Cancer Greenville study and helps support Prisma’s Institute for Translational Oncology Research’s ongoing cancer research…
